NHS LIFT Nationally / Locally
Hull Citycare is the development company formed to deliver Hull’s NHS LIFT programme, as part of the government’s national initiative designed to deliver a step change in primary health care.NHS LIFT is a new approach to the delivery of the primary healthcare estate and capital investment for community based health and social care. The initiative is designed to deliver a “step change” in the quality of the primary care estate. Local stakeholders enter a public private partnership (PPP) agreement to own, develop and fully maintain property for primary, community and social care users. Nationally, LIFT will contribute to:
- £1 billion of investment in primary care
- Refurbishment or replacement of up to 3,000 GP premises
- Establishment of 500 new one stop care centers
LIFT provides a flexible mechanism for translating health service plans into investment propositions, so developments are geared towards meeting local health needs. LIFT will remove the disincentives of practising in inner city areas, by developing innovative and more attractive propositions for GPs, and other primary healthcare professionals.
